I draw the inside of data centres.

General arrangement plans, floor plans, rack layouts and 3D visuals of white space — for teams that are out of drafting capacity.

Who is doing the drawing

Colleen Chiu. I came to this from the controls side — building and environmental control systems on live sites, where the job is to represent a real room accurately enough that an operator can act on it. I now work both ends: the 3D model of the space, and the graphic the operators watch it on.

Everything is modelled in SketchUp and rendered in V-Ray. Drawings come out of the same model, so the plan and the visual never disagree.

Equipment is modelled, not blocked in. Patch panels, breaker faces, rack rails, door hardware — the things that let someone recognise their own kit in a picture of a room that does not exist yet.

Everything below came out of one model. The visual and the drawing are the same room, which is not always true of the sets I am asked to work from.

I also build the room graphics that sit behind BMS and DCIM operator screens — the same geometry, flattened and evenly lit, because the only thing allowed to be bright on an operator screen is the thing that is wrong.

Working together

I work from: Your layouts, sketches, point lists, or a written spec. Marked-up PDFs are fine.
Stays with you: The engineering. I draw what your engineers have decided; I don't specify it.
Deliverables: Rendered stills at 3000 px or larger, general arrangement plans, axonometrics, section views, operator-screen backgrounds. Source files on request.
File formats: PNG, PDF, DWG / DXF, SKP, OBJ / FBX.
Typical turnaround: Depends on scope. A single general arrangement plan with one rendered view is usually a few days. A full set with sections and multiple views takes longer. You get a date with the quote, before anything starts.
Pricing: Quoted per job against your brief, not by the hour. Fixed figure agreed before I start, revisions to the agreed scope included.
Confidentiality: Client work is covered by NDA and is not shown here. I'm happy to sign yours before you send anything.
